Roman Portraits from Aphrodisias

Bringing together marble portrait sculptures and reliefs from the Aphrodisias excavations, the exhibition focuses on Roman Imperial portraiture and the art of marble carving. Aphrodisias is notable as a sculpture school in its own right, and the display includes workshop practices such as apprentice pieces and recarved reuse. It was curated by Prof. R.R.R. Smith, director of the Aphrodisias excavations for Oxford and New York University.
