Tombak: Elegance with a Touch of Gold

Presenting 138 Ottoman tombak pieces together for the first time, the exhibition revives the gilding technique as a “forgotten art”. Arranged in five sections, the works range from palace-kitchen cups and ewer-and-basin sets to military ceremonial objects. The display highlights the aesthetic and technical mastery of Ottoman craftsmen, the art’s golden age in the 16th century, and its neglect today.
